In-Person Workshops

Build An AI-Enabled BVFLS practice:
A hands-on workshop that integrates AI into your everyday workflows

Wednesday, September 30 ... Hyatt Regency, Salt Lake City

When was the last time you left an in-person workshop feeling like something really shifted for you? With something (anything!) that truly made a difference in your practice?

Has THAT ever happened?

Think about how your BVFLS firm runs today. You know what needs to be done. But what can you do differently – more efficiently and effectively – by collaborating with AI?

This might sound ambitious, but I’m convinced that with AI your firm can:

  • Materially decrease data subscription expenses.

  • Save hours every week by automating repetitive tasks.

  • Substantially increase output without hiring more people.

  • Find new opportunities to generate more revenue in your engagements.

And if I demonstrated how to do X ... and you repeated X with your data … and you left with the complete playbook, would THAT be enough of a shift for you?!

Because THAT is exactly what this workshop will showcase:

  • Five sessions structured around “learn, then do” ... meaning I teach you AI-assisted tasks and then you recreate them on your computer with your files so you can take everything home with you … all set up.

  • Plus one session devoted to helping you solve an AI for BV use case that you’ve been wondering about or struggling with.

The challenge isn’t curiosity anymore – it’s figuring out where AI fits in your processes while being transparent, auditable, and aligned with professional standards. In other words, the question isn’t, “Should I use AI?” It’s, “Where does AI make sense in my practice, and how do I implement it responsibly?”

Sessions At A Glance

01 Custom instructions and digital assistants

You hear you could/should be using custom instructions in tandem with AI digital assistants for your high-value tasks. This session will give you the steps, prompts, and specific examples of Projects and Skills you can put to work immediately in your practice/firm. (100 minutes)

02 Extracting financial information from client documents

The Holy Grail is the accurate and reliable extraction of financial information from client documents, e.g., tax returns, financial, bank, and credit card statements, and accounting program reports. This session will demonstrate the best AI tools for the task. (50 minutes)

03 Performing company/industry research

We perform research to gather, analyze, and present information about market trends, specific competitors, and other factors related to industry structure and conditions. AI can help with all of it and at less cost than the subscriptions you are paying for now. (50 minutes)

04 Drafting and reviewing reports

BVFLSers are not the best writers. But there are AI prompts that can assist with proofreading and suggesting descriptive alternatives. Then, you’ll test a prompt that conducts a structured quality control review of a finalized report and its schedules to check for narrative consistency, numerical accuracy, and produces a comprehensive summary identifying issues and potential rebuttal points. (50 minutes)

05 Deposition/trial preparation and AI detection software

This session will demonstrate the most underutilized AI for BV tool that can efficiently and effectively prepare you for a deposition or trial ... then show you to survive and counterattack the inevitable accusation that your report was written by AI. (50 minutes)

06 Solving the AI for BV use cases you’re struggling with

We’ll start with the topics/questions that are submitted in advance. You may want to redact client information as your use case could be illustrated on the big screen. Every system has one slowest step (a bottleneck). Here is a chance to solve one of yours. (100 minutes)

Each session blends Rod’s expert instruction with real-world demonstrations and your data, giving you a clear understanding of not only what AI can do, but how to apply it directly to your future engagements.
